BAND CALENDAR
BIOGRAPHY
Road to Canaan (RTC) is a young band hailing from the inner suburbs of Sydney. Birthed in mid-2006, the band has played at venues all across the greater Sydney region, from the Annandale Hotel to the Sydney Showground.

However, for RTC, being a band is more than playing music on big stages. According to Daniel Vijayakumar, the lead vocalist, "The opportunity to inspire and bring out the best in people is what we're all about." Whilst this young group of guys may seem like the same old 'teen band' from yesteryear, their desire to make music that will have a lasting impact on people's lives truly does set them apart.

The inspiration for many of RTC's songs is everything and anything that the boys experience in their daily lives. From the tracks on their latest self-titled debut EP, it is also clear that the boys aren't afraid to draw from their unconventional Sri Lankan heritage. When asked about their unusual ethnic descent, Prashan Thevarajah comments "It's not everyday that you see a bunch of black guys doin' rock..." The others laugh along with him. His words sum up the general attitude of this band. Not too serious. Yet not immature. Fun-loving but deep at the same time.

In terms of sound, RTC is a mash of old school RnB vocal lines, strewn across a page of rugged guitars with a fair bit of drum punch to pack it all up. Well at least that's what they think...

You'll just have to hear them for yourself.
