Boogie 4 announces next round of Acts for the line-up for Tallarook, Vic - April 2,3 & 4
Mar 10, 2010

OK folks, now the dust has settled, let's let you all in on who else will be hitting the dusty boards at BOOGIE this Easter weekend to compliment JUSTIN TOWNES EARLE, OOGA BOOGAS, WAGONS, LEADER CHEEATH, FROWNING CLOWNS, THEDACIOS and BOY & BEAR.

We are radically stoked to announce the first ever Victorian show for THE BREAK. The Break are the band spankin' new band comprised of Midnight Oils's Rob Hirst, Martin Rotsey and Jim Moginie, along with The Violent Femmes bass man Brian Ritchie. They have their own take on the surf instrumental sound, and will be cranking it live on Saturday night at BOOGIE.

Melbourne outfit THE UV RACE are a killer slice of idiot savant punk rock. Their crude proto-punk sound recalls the glory days of VOM, Modern Lovers, Zakary Thaks, Electric Eels, Crime, and a whole host of historic losers... just the type of experienced hands that make BOOGIE magic!

Forming late 2008 around charismatic guitarist/vocalist Marty Frawley and bassist Rick Milovanovic, THE TWERPS have quickly risen to become one of Melbourne’s favourite lo-fi pop bands. They’ve recently scored support slots for the likes of Deerhunter, The Bats, The Oh Sees, and The Black Lips. Support them at BOOGIE.

We love post stoner rock at BOOGIE, particularly on Easter Sunday. Come lose your mind to the sounds of AHKMED. Formed in 1998, the power trio has been churning out the sounds to the underground for over 10 years with their songs of peaks and troughs, heavy riffage and mellow sandscapes. Lose it!!

Whether playing warm warped vocal notes through a midi keyboard or hitting a banjo with a drumstick, OTOUTO's take on pop music is fantastically unique. The vocal harmonies created by the sisters cause beautiful juxtapositions with the dissonant guitar work and frenetic percussion and beats. Otouto make songs with small and abstract pictures from daily existence both punctured and highlighted by their constantly unfolding foundation: pots and pans percussion, baritone guitar, Farfisa and homemade keyboards. Dig!

JASON ISBELL first came to attention as the co singer, guitarist and
songwriter for Alabama soul roots rockers, Drive By Truckers. Now a couple of years and albums into his solo career, and on his first ever tour of Oz, Jason will smooth your soul with this solo outing with his tales of life, love and death and all in between.

OLLIE BROWN is the spiritual leader of both Art Of Fighting, and the recent Parallel Lions. Let him take your heart and mind to places plucking his down tempo indie classics from his repertoire. This will be a rare solo outing for the wordsmith.

Wake up on Sunday morning with EMILY ULMAN. Singer-songwriter Emily Ulman is a Melbourne treasure. Possessed of deliciously throaty vocals and a lyrical honesty that gets you right in the stomach, Emily's music is like two for the road when one for the road would be the best news ever.

EAGLE & The WORM are a new Melbourne outfit with big hooks and a roof busting shuffle. Their spankin' live show mixes a studio sound full of bedroom-bred songwriting, summer dreamadelica, 4 track jams, and a cacophony of pop referencing held together with a nine piece band. Prepare yourselves people.

But wait, it's not only main stage rock and roll at BOOGIE, we have DJ
action also. Here's a couple of them so far.

DJ ANDEE FROST is the care bear of the Melbourne music scene. Andee's eclectic style of Mary Poppins (how much can you carry in that bag) has found him play the creepiest of little Melbourne disco dungeons and grotty siderooms of the most banging main room house clubs in the country. Fresh and crazy from Big Day Out, Golden Plains, Meredith, and the late steamy floors of Sorry Granpa. Now get ready to shake it to Andee at BOOGIE.

SACA LA MOIS DJ is Melbourne’s own visiting Cumbia devotee, a DJ
obsessed with dancefloors and dub-fx. A producer and live performer Saca la Mois DJ, is also a performer with tropical space cowboys The Cumbia Cosmonauts, He has travelled and performed far and wide, collecting rare latino grooves and dropping them through Mexico, Sth America and Europe as well as being active in the Australian Festival circuits. Look for the cowboy hat and jive.

We will have more DJ action to announce in March as well all the performers for the world famous BOOGIE CLUBHOUSE and the SHEARING SHED DISCO DANCE SPECTACULAR. Until then, let's recap, the line up so far....

JUSTIN TOWNES EARLE (USA), WAGONS, LEEDER CHEETAH, OOGA BOOGA, THE DACIOS, THE FROWNING CLOWNS, BOY & BEAR, THE BREAK (first ever Vic. Show), THE UV RACE, THE TWERPS, AHKMED, OTOUTO, JASON ISBELL (USA), OLLIE BROWN (of Art Of Fighting/Parallel Lions), EMILY ULMAN, EAGLE & The WORM, DJ ANDEE FROST, SACA LA MOIS DJ....not bad we reckon.
